On the afternoon of October 14th (Thursday), Mr. Khalifa Mohammed Alkhorafi, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Guangzhou attended the opening ceremony of the 130th Canton Fair in Guangzhou,which co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center.Several important Chinese leaders, headed by Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council, also attended this event.Li said in his opening speech that the Canton Fair is an important platform for China to open up and develop international trade cooperation. Since its establishment 65 years ago, the Canton Fair has been successfully held 129times and has never stopped,the annual turnover has increased from 87 million dollars at the beginning to 59 billion dollars in 2020. Li also pointed out that China will continue to work with other countries to overcome the epidemic.
Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Cote d'Ivoire Prime Minister Patrick Achi and Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development Rebeca Grynspan attended the ceremony via video link, praising China's cooperation with other countries andstressing their willingness to carry out more projects and cooperation with China for the benefit of their peoples.
The 130th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou from October 15th to 19th, using an online and offline merged format for the first time. The offline exhibition area reached 400,000 square meters, whichis the world's largest physical exhibition during the epidemic. The Canton Fair set up 51 exhibition areas according to 16 categories of goods, with a total of nearly 20,000 booths and 7795 exhibitors, 80% of which are private enterprises. There are also about 26,000 Chinese and foreign companies participating online with 2.82 million exhibits.
